Japanese Electric Cars
Welcome to Japanese Electric Cars. The big 3 Japanese automakers – Toyota, Honda and Nissan – are expected to achieve a hefty market share for electric cars.
On August 2, 2009, Nissan announced the production of the Leaf (Leading, Environmentally friendly, Affordable, Family car), the company’s first all-electric vehicle. The car, which went on sale in December 2010, can drive right around 100 miles on a single charge. The 2010 Leaf will be available in select countries including Japan, Europe, and the United States. In 2010, the five major US markets which will see the Nissan Leaf released include Tennessee, Oregon, Seattle, San Diego, and the Phoenix/Tucson region. There will be a global release of the Nissan Leaf in 2012.
Electric cars will greatly decrease the use of gasoline around the world. Without a traditional internal combustion engine – however – the noise coming from electric cars is greatly diminished, especially at low speeds. For safety, the Leaf includes digital warning sounds, one for forward motion and another for reverse, to alert pedestrians, the blind, and others of its presence.
Thanks for visiting Japanese Electric Cars.
